A Different Breed Animal Rescue , Dallas, TX, has a unique approach -- "Attacking the Problem at the Source." The organization's mission is to address the tragic consequences of pet overpopulation by focusing on sterilization, adoption and education. In 2003, the city of Dallas impounded 32,738 dogs and cats. Out of these, 26,157 were killed by lethal injection. A Different Breed Rescue believes the solution to this epidemic is simple: Stop the births! Spay one female dog or cat at four months of age, and in seven years you have prevented 7,300 births. Cats and dogs are born faster than they can be adopted. Founding ADB directors: Monique Voelker, Barbara Canter, Debbie Ferrell, Becky Haisma, and Cathi Wood. A Different Breed Animal Rescue, P.O.
