A Different Breed Animal Rescue , Dallas, TX, has a unique approach -- "Attacking the Problem at the Source." The organization's mission is to address the tragic consequences of pet overpopulation by focusing on sterilization, adoption and education. In 2003, the city of Dallas impounded 32,738 dogs and cats. Out of these, 26,157 were killed by lethal injection. A Different Breed Rescue believes the solution to this epidemic is simple: Stop the births! Spay one female dog or cat at four months of age, and in seven years you have prevented 7,300 births. Cats and dogs are born faster than they can be adopted. Founding ADB directors: Monique Voelker, Barbara Canter, Debbie Ferrell, Becky Haisma, and Cathi Wood. A Different Breed Animal Rescue, P.O. Furever Friends, Ft. Worth, TX
Furever Friends, Inc. is an animal rescue organization founded in
1995 by experienced animal welfare volunteers who wanted to work with local
animal shelters, veterinarians, and the community to find homes for unwanted and
abandoned animals. Furever Friends is not a shelter, but a group of volunteers
who foster animals in their homes until permanent homes can be found. Foster
animals are brought to adoption sites around the Fort Worth and mid-cities area
until suitable homes can be found. No adoptable animal is ever euthanized
because a permanent home could not be found. Furever Friends, Inc. is a
nonprofit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization run solely by volunteers. We have
no paid staff and all moneys raised through donations, fund raisers, and
adoptions are used for the care of Furever Friends' animals. For information
